Elaine Aldred BSc (Hons), D.C. Lic. Ac, Dip. Herb. Med, Dip. CHM
Established in 1990 Nottingham Chiropractic Clinic offers a full range of complimentary treatments to both NSRC club and non-members.
Treatments include:-
Chiropractic
Chiropractic treatment is mostly given in the form of manipulation, using specific adjustments done by hand to free up the joints of the body.
Ultrasound may be used to reduce inflammation. Ice and heat advice may also be utilized to aid the reduction of symptoms.
Exercises may be demonstrated and management advice given to assist the treatment.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a branch of Chinese medicine that uses the insertion of fine needles into various points on the body to maintain or restore health.
The traditional Chinese medical viewpoint is that 'Qi' a vital life force flows around the body and when disrupted can create disease. Acupuncture treatment restores the flow of Qi.
Often treatment may relieve more than one condition and often patients report and overall sense of well being, resulting in more energy and a good night's sleep.
The needles are not always inserted locally. In some cases the points may be at some distance from the problem. For example, some points for hay fever may be located in the legs or feet.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine has a long therapeutic history. Native plants compatible with the human body were made into different types of preparations by healers in order to act as remedies for various conditions.
Herbal preparations are the extract of the whole part of a particular plant, such as the flowers, root or berries etc. and not the isolated chemical. Although science has indicated certain active ingredients present within a plant, herbalists believe that the whole plant provides a more balanced approach.
Herbal medicine can treat a wide variety of conditions, but a qualified herbalist will know when a patient should be referred onto their doctor. Now with the advent of modern travel and transport a wider variety of plant remedies have been made available to herbalists.
